Can be done if you take the time to "calibrate" the digital SLR meter with your own shooting, but in the end, I find my analog Pentax spot meter to be the most consistantly accurate meter I've ever used.
as for your Sekonic 428, I use the workhorse 398 myself as a backup, so if your meter is working properly (IE - nobody has dropped in a lake or something like that ), you might have the solution in your hands. Try it out and see, but before you take off on your trip.
