A creative variety of tree photographs lately; let's keep it up!

I couldn't decide on one composition, so I made two photos... Still not sure. Why do you favor one over the other?

Branch, trees, snow, and light in the woods of Owls Head Maine. February 2017. 4x5 speed graphic preanniversary with 7.25" Verito soft focus lens. Kodak tmy2 tmax 400 film in pyrocat hdc.

I like your tighter shot, jp, because my eye focuses on the details of the fallen branch instead of wandering back into the scene where I can't really focus my eyes because of the softness.

Stumps are trees, aren't they? Well, they used to be at least.

I even got some wildlife in this one!:

True, it's a banana slug, and even it moved enough to blur a bit in 20 seconds, but it's wildlife!

Two more stumps, all shot at Purisma Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve near Half Moon Bay, CA.

Wow Jason, this new one is fantastic! You are really matching the soft focus lenses to the subjects so well! Of the two you posted above, I would favor the overall composition of the lower (second) version, with the darkness and depth of the woods at the top of the image. Thanks so much for these.

I don't have a scanner anymore. Moderator please delete this iphone picture of a 4x5 contact print taken two years ago with a Graflex Super D with 210 Lanthar lens if this is not proper. Click image for larger version.
