Jonathan, I'll take your word for it, but how was this done?
A neighbor has a tree in their front yard with white holiday lights on it, and last night I thought I would go take some photos of it around dusk. I meant to shoot the whole tree from a distance since it looks so great all aglow, but I couldn't find a "straight" angle that I liked. I kept inching the tripod closer and closer, and at one point as I tried to focus on a branch very close to the camera the background just exploded in these circles. I'm not all that happy with the framing--too many black holes in the composition--but the mishmash of branches and light circles is fun. I think I'll try again now that I know what's possible.
Thanks, Bryan.
Tree bokeh = trokeh?

These were taken using John Nesbitt 8 x 10 wooden field camera. Film:- expired Ilford FP4 rated at iso 100.
Thanks Jonathan. Nice discovery with the Xmas lights bokeh. Greenspeed, I'm really digging the second one, I like that you left the wave breaking instead of slowing it down to smoke.
