Jim: Many of your carbon transfers appear very dark on my screen. Is this a problem with my calibration, or are you printing dark on purpose? (There is a similarly dark carbon transfer you posted in the portraits thread.) Are carbon transfers capable of the same range of zones as film? Pardon my ignorance, I enjoy your work, so I'm trying to gain a better understanding.
Good point, Peter. Jim, do you save these jpegs in a different color space than srgb by any chance? If I save mine as adobe rgb, they tend to display quite dark in a non-color managed browser as well. And perhaps your screen at home is quite light or in a very dark room?
Yes, the images seem to come up darker than the actual print. The prints that I have posted recently have been soft focus in nature and I find that in the somewhat subdued light the contrast is softer than normal. I personally don't mind the darker images but they do not show very well here. When viewed in good light they look very nice. I'm sure that everyone can say that about their work.
Now the mood that I was going for with these images was darker than my normal style. Hope this helps explain.
