I'm kicking myself for not giving it some space to the right (although roadside constraints and complications applied). I'll have to take it again sometime.

I like that, Peter. On a side note, my wife and I here in the states are addicted to a TV show produced in the UK called “Escape to the Country.” The show’s hosts help people find homes in country settings. Your photo reminds me of some of the properties I’ve seen on the show. We hope to take a trip to the UK someday. Anyway, nice photo.

Hmm... I know what I'll be working on later this week!

Yes, a popular show here too, there always seem to be repeats on. Thankfully although we have our fair share of urban sprawl there is still plenty of beautiful countryside - as you do too.

UK Landscape photographer Charlie Waite (mostly medium format I think) also advocates use of a step ladder. I have enough trouble trying to get one to be stable in the garden so can't imagine what it would be like in farmland or the woods!

Ansel Adams I believe utilised the flat bed on a pickup truck, a good idea if you can get to the location on a made-up surface.

(Has no one invented the LF drone yet? )

Peter, have you checked out the wide base 3 legged gardening ladders ?

I've seen them being used by the National Trust gardeners to trim hedges.

I have been tempted but I don't think I can fit one in the boot of my car.

I have seen the ones you mean but I have a very small car as well! I also invariably feel the need to get around to the front of the camera, so I'm not sure how that would work on a single ladder... Maybe a better strategy would be a really tall tripod and a smaller set of folding steps.

Thanks Philip. It's a fine little group of trees that I've had my eye on for a while.
