Nice one of the Big Mac. You were on the north side of the bridge in the U.P.?

Thanks Jon. We were on the south side. We had just gotten off the ferry after our first stay at Mackinac Island. Staying there was OK. Best part was the fudge and the fort. (and the scenery of course.)

    Re: Bridges

Glad to see a section dedicated to bridges!! Here's one of my favorites in all of NYC...

HellGate Bridge (originally the New York Connecting Railroad Bridge or The East River Arch Bridge) is a 1,017-foot (310 m) steel through arch railroad bridge between Astoria, Queens and Randall's Island in New York City, over a portion of the East River known as Hell Gate.

The engineering was so precise that when the last section of the main span was lifted into place, the final adjustment needed to join everything together was 1⁄2 inches (12.7 mm).

I really like the Hell Gate- especially as you included the approach viaduct in the background, in addition to the very fine tones.

I once was on a small cabin cruiser travelling Hell's Gate as the tide changed. We nearly capsized! I gained a new respect and appreciation for that ancient name.
