Those Elusive Thingummies - Iris Lens Mounts

I'd been watching a couple of universal iris lens mounts on ebay.de, just to prove that I don't have all of them.

When the auctions were drawing close to the end I put in a low bid on one of them, and decided that the other one was going to be expensive.

But what I don't understand is why one of them (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWA:IT&ih=004) sold for 204 Euros, and the other one (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWA:IT&ih=010) for €56??

I know from experience that these are both desirable and useful, but why th eprice difference? Is it "just ebay"?

Just one of those things, I think. If you look at the bid history, you'll see that the 204 euro auction had a collision between a pair of snipers.

It's simple, really: the €204 winner is crazier than the €56 winner....

The one on the long board is only about half as big as the one on the 8X8 board. It opens to 80mm for the big petzvals. The little one only open to about 60 or so.

I like that; there's someone crazier than me out there!

Jim, as far as i can determine just from the pictures they're about the same size. 75 mm or so, so they are both osable on "normal" lens boards. My favorite one of these is the really small one which fits on a Speed Graphic lens board. There are lots of the big ones, but you rarely see the small ones!
