    Cooke XVa Convertble lens

I have been looking for a Cooke XVa lens. A guy in Yosemite had one and it was the most beautiful lens I have ever seen. I dug out my July/August 2004 issue of View Camera and read Gordon's glowing review of the lens. I contacted Clive to see if it was possible that any new ones were still available. Of course they were all gone as few were made. Clive stated that Cooke will make another production run of XVa's next year. Great news that Cooke feels there is enough interest to make another production run.

Anyone have one? Any thought on the lens?

I am in my first week of two weeks in the Eastern Sierra with my Canham 4x10 and 8x10. Great weather and heading to Lee Vining Friday.

    Thanks
    Scott

    Scott,

My Cooke XVa, bought from Clive, is the most beautiful lens I own. Period. And I own too many lenses as is.

Place an advanced order with Clive. He'll make a list an submit it to Cooke. Then be very very patient. They are worth the wait. Mine: ss#065. Used on a light-weight Canham 8x10.

I have seen two for sale on eBay in the last year, so watch regularly.

    Several images on this web page (#8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 17 & 19) were made with the XVa: http://www.walterpcalahan.com/Cheers...;20County.html

I hope you get one soon.

    Well,

it might become the first LF lens I buy new if there would be a new production run. I'm in the market for one!

    Greetings,

I spoke to Robert White this morning - they had 3 PS945s, but they are all spoken for - and they don't expect any more for many months to come... They also told me that they do not anticipate any XVas being made for the forseeable future.

I did get on Clive's XVa list. I am not in any hurry and if it happened next year it would be perfect.
