    Peter Feresten

It is with great sorrow that I mention that last Sunday in Fort Worth, Tx, the photographic community lost yet another fine photographer and teacher. Peter Helms Feresten died after a long illness. Peter came to Fort Worth after getting his masters degree from Rhode Island School of Design and studying with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind. Peter set up the photography dept at the Tarrant County Junior College and worked there until he was too sick too work. Peter was primarily a large format shooter with a Deardorff 5x7 but he also used toy cameras and other formats in his long career. Peter has work at Eastman Kodak and is represented by the Afterimage Gallery in Dallas, TX.

here is a link to the Afterimage Gallery website.

The funeral is at 1:30 pm today in Fort Worth.

    Re: Peter Feresten

    I just noticed this post,

Peter was a man that I am truly blessed to have known as a friend, and as a professor. I was fortunate enough to spend hours a week discussing everything from RISD, A. Siskind, chemistry, galleries, music, the stories and personal experiences behind his work, Life, everything.

I can still hear him telling me what to keep in mind with regards to my work, and I miss it.
