Better Scanning's variable height wet/dry mount station

    Hi All,

I use an Epson 4870 for scanning my 4x5's, and am looking at the wet/dry mount station from BetterScanning.com. I'm currently using two pieces of anti-glare glass, having found that this seems to be sharper across the negative than using the epson 4x5 holder, but I'm wondering if using the variable height scanning station as a wet mount will help with two things:

    1) sharper scans from 4x5's, and
    2) Less lint/dust, etc.

I'm still not completely satisfied with the sharpness I'm getting, and I always have enough dust, etc that despite blowing and such, always seems to be present. If anyone has any experience along these lines, I'd love to hear it.

    Thanks!
    Bill

    Yes to both questions.

Doug's product is outstanding - well thought out, well executed - I'd highly recommend it.

Stop blowing the dust and get a wide antistatic brush. I have a 12" brush and brush both sides of the holder and the glass before every scan. It is fast and it helps - most of my dust is on the negative.:-(

Thanks Kirk and Don! Looks like I should be getting one.

Ed - what are you using for an antistatic brush - I have a small camelhair brush, but it doesn't seem to help all that much for the smaller lint.
