    Saw John Sexton last night...

    Hi all...

    I went to hear John Sexton speak last night at Cypress College, of which he is an alumnus. A great 2-hour slideshow talk filled with a lot of humor and self-deprecation. Very little technical talk, hardly any at all. Included were a few before (straight print) and after (contrast, dodging, burning, bleaching) images. His stories about Ansel Adams were very funny, Ansel being the inveterate joker...

    All in all, a really nice evening...was anyone else from the forum there?

    I was at his talk on Sunday at Bowers museum.Only an hour, but very entertaining.The best part though was seeing Ansel's prints in the museum after the talk :}

    No, but I'm seeing him tonight in San Marcos (then again at the Silver Conference). His talk last year at the Silver was *very* entertaining, and worth attending.

    He has a great sense of humor. At his workshops, he gives away lots of goodies donated by the sponsors. The presentation was hilarious. Also lots of self-deprecating humor.

    I won the lottery for a box of 4x5 Tri-X. Unfortunately, back in those days my largest camera was MF. Anne knew this, and felt sorry for me. She brokered a trade for some rolls of 120 TMX. Who knows, if she didn't do that, I might have ended up with a 4x5 camera sooner!

    Sorry I could not make it to the presentation.

    I saw him in Santa Barbara last Friday, sponsored by Brooks. Sounds like the same presentation. I thoroughly enjoyed the lecture. Excellent images, very entertaining talk and he is a very personable guy.

    He sure sold a lot of books!

    A Danish woman who is a very good photographer. We have one of her photos hanging on the wall in our house. Its like nothing I would or ever could do. Paper folded by the artist, lit, photographed and printed delicately.

    Eric, David, et.a.:

    Okay, thanks to you I am curious about the work of Anne Sexton. As you may know, Anne Sexton is also the name of a famous American poet; so Google lists hundreds of sites that refer to the wordsmith Anne Sexton. Does John Sexton's spouse go by another name, or have a middle initial that will help in finding images of her work?
