Pulled Velvia: How to expose?

As in the previous thread mentioning that Velvia can be pushed, It can also be p ull processed. I have tried to keep the contrast lower by exposing it at 20 ASA, and sending it for pull processing, but the results where underexposed (not sur e the lab did the best job though). How do you rate the film when exposing it th at way? Do you expose for the highlights or the shadows? I also have heard of di fficulties to get consistant results from the labs who treat mainly Kodak films. Any experience?

Many people rate Velvia at a 40 ISO speed and then process it normally. This will reduce contrast a bit, and you will not incur any added processing costs.

I expose Velvia at ISO 50, and like the results. Depends on your meter's calibration, too.

With respect to a lab, I strongly suggest that you develop a relationship with a local professional lab, assuming that one is available. They'll provide consistent processing, and you can then tune your exposures to their processing and get the results that you want.
