My 240mm G Claron seems to prefer life at f/32 but is quite sharp 'across the board'---I have to give the nod to f/32 though.

As I said on the 300 mm question:
What does it matter? Sharpness is only a tool for translating one's vision to paper.
Measured as resolution, not contrast, many modern plasmats are quite sharp at f/11. Some of the Tessar formula optics are sharpest at f/4.5 or f/5.6. It all depends on the implementation and manufacturing.
