Music has demonstrated more facility for getting past my mind to my emotions than any other form of aesthetic stimulation.

Total BS.
Perhaps what needs to be defined is "music", not spirituality. My house is inhabited by a veritable cornucopia of musical instruments- keyboards, violin, woodwinds, guitars. But I can unequivocally state that music does not live here, no matter how hard I try. There is spirituality in the instrument however, and I enjoy them as much for being instruments, even as they appear to be devoid of music. Photography, I just realized, for me may be much the same At least I can say that I find spirituality in the tools of creativity, if not in the process...
And I prefer open spaces. Quiet. Undisturbed natural areas. Raging storms. Deserts. Mountains. Almost anything and place that does not involve other people. The natural music of nature beats anything I hear from a symphony orchestra.
