    Polaroid Type 55 accident

Hi, I was shooting type 55 yesterday and when I pulled the sheet out of my 545i holder, I noticed somehow the gel had leaked out of the film pack covering most of the metal black clip on the sheet. The next sheet I ran through the holder had some of this goop on it leftover from the last sheet contaminating the inside of the holder, next sheet just a little bit leftover on it.I proceded to run about ten more sheets through the holder and now they all come out clean.Should I just leave it alone, or should I try and perform surgery on the holder and try and wipe out what little bit of gel might still be in there.I've never cracked one of these open before and am a little paranoid of breaking something.Thanks....................................Chris

I'd take it apart and clean it. Whatever gunk that is left inside might start collecting dirt and get nasty. At sometime in the past I downloaded a Poalroid 545Pro manual that describes how to take the thing apart. Search http://www.polaroid.com to find it or send me a PM with an e-mail address and I'll send you the PDF.

I second the tip to take it apart any clean it - especially if you're working with 55. Besides, it's good to clean it once in a while anyhow, plus check for shards of any other foreign matter in there.

I think the SK Grimes website also has a description on how to clean the holder.

It's very easy to take completely apart, clean, and ressemble.
