Did you guys get a load of this?
Motorized to boot. Not exactly a "field camera", but nifty. $5K may not be so bad if you can make it fully manual...especially given that it comes with a tripod and film holders.

Apparently it is "manaul" -- the ad says, "... A useful addition that the owner had Lotus make is to add manual controls on all the movements..."Originally Posted by alec4444
The bellows looks like it could use some Viagra. Wonder what film costs for a monster like that.
Did you also notice the 750mm Docter Germinar in shutter from the same seller? Now that's an ULF lens!
You better start with the 11x14 instead.
Interesting! I've often wondered about HUGE cameras such as this. I would agree that it isn't exactly a field camera but...Originally Posted by alec4444
I've wondered... "what DO people shoot with cameras like this if they don't take it out into the field? Obviously, there are situations that demand this sort of size... but, what DO people commonly shoot with them?"
I'm just curious.
As for $5G for the camera and accessories... that's just a starting price and there IS a reserve price on it!
Cheers

Life in the fast lane!
Giant polaroids? Life-sized protraits? As for film--if one has to ask the cost, one can't afford it. It is like having a St. Bernard, the cost is not in the purchase but in the feeding. And then the size of the darkroom facilities--obviously not a "bathroom" set up with the tub as the print washer... The mind boggles...

Couldn't resist!
I live near Scottsdale/Fountain Hills, and heard about this camera about 3 or 4 weeks ago, I think that the asking price was/is around $11,000+, so I would guess that the reserve is somewhat higher than $5,000. My wife said NO WAY, so I didn't even go look at it.
Take a look at Patrick Alt's work. He uses a 18"x22" format camera for some of his work. http://www.patrickalt.com I had a chance to look at some his work just yesterday in Santa Fe and 18"x22" contact prints are pretty amazing to behold.Originally Posted by Capocheny
