Daniel,
The Micromega grain focuser was used as "the standard" at the newspaper I worked at and, IMHO, they were really great to use. There was far less eye stress even when used over long periods of time than some of the others that we experimented with.
So, with the defect in yours... I can understand why you got it free!
Cheers

Hmmm ... that's too bad because they're great tools. You can even use it to align your enlarger.
If it's out of wack, it's worth trying to figure out why. Some possibilities i can think of: 1) the mirror isn't seated right. easy fix. 2) it got dropped and the optics in the loupe are messed up. if this is the case you might be able to get replacement loupe from peak or omega or whoever's selling them now. 3) it really got dropped and the metal frame is bent. then i think you have a paper weight.
good luck!

Daniel, The loupe on this Micromega is focusable, With or w/o your vision correction focus the loupe until the small rectangal inside the loupe is sharp. It should then be good to go.
Robert
that worked-
thanks
I remember when they were the standard and I used one many years ago. A new one would be great, I bought a Peak focuser instead, give them a look.

Turner - is it not possible you're thinking of a microsight or something? The micromega and the Peak are identical in nearly every way - except, IIRC, the micromega might be SLIGHTLY better built...
You are probably right about them being the same, it's been a long time and all I remember was the name Micromega. Maybe that's why I liked the Peak when I saw it.
