    Schneider Tele-Xenar 240mm f5.5 shutter question

Just ordered one on ebay, and have to figure this out, the shutter mount merely says Synchro Compure made in germany, Bulb to 1/400.

Any good idea on what size hole i need in an omega view 45d lens board?

Its a beauty and is just lacking a factory box to beat most "NOS" lenses ive seen.

Great underrated lens, I have been using several of 240mm Teles barrel and shutter a lot recently. Can look it up, I really like the olde lenses. Shutter might be sticky, might need a cleaning. That's about it. I have a pretty complete set of Tele-Xenars from 180mm to 500mm. Having been using all of them recently.

I have two versions of the 240mm F5.5, one for 6.5x9cm, the other for 9x12cm. The smaller one is 30 degrees, #1 shutter, 129mm circle, Series 8 Front. The bigger one is for 9x12cm 35 degrees #2 shutter 152mm circle, Series 8 Front. Compact and light in weight. Extreme sharpness, flat field. Get a Filter Holder and the glass filters you want, not expensive but can be.

not sure on the thread diameter,, just know what it is. If it helps the synchro compur name is written on a nice shiny silver ring.

This sounds like a No. 1 (Synchro) Compur. The No. 1 had a top speed of 1/400 and was marked "Synchro Compur", having both M and X synchronization. The No. 2 rim-set Compur had only X synchronization, was marked simply "Compur" and had a top speed of 1/200.

Just for sake of completeness, in later years the No. 0, No. 1 and No. 3 (a late addition to the line) Compurs were labeled Compur 0, Compur 1 or Compur 3. Can't find it explicitly in my literature but I have a hunch they had only X synchronization. By this time the No. 2 had long been out of production.

    timer, bulb, 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 100, 200, 400 for speeds

m x next to the connecterits wierd having to yurn the metal dial to control the spped. the trigger for the shutter is cute, but the hole for the release cable is the smallest ive ever seen.

And when i got the retaining ring off, the threads JUST fit into a 1.5" hole in my C-Thru Ruler co circle template t-801.

Check the rear threads. #1 shutters are asymmetric, M40x0.75 front threads and M36x0.75 rear. In other sizes front and rear threadings are the same.

According to my olde Schneider literature, the #1 shutter lens has a 129mm image circle. Intended for 6.5x9cm cameras, ala Baby Linhof Technika. Wasn't it one of the lens triad for the Baby Technika? 30 Degree lens, takes Series 8 filters front thread. I have one in barrel mount and I used it recently on my 9x9cm Plaubel Makiflexes, shooting close up in the studio. I like the lens a lot for that.
