    Howtek HiResolve8000 issue

So, after many months of my life on hold, I got back to developing and scanning. Fired up the Howtek, first couple scans went well, then I started getting this error sometimes at 99% complete or just after scan starts. Doesn't matter resolution , etc.

    I was scanning 8x10's

I removed and reinstalled driver and DPL. Didn't work. Never had this problem on many scans in past. My guess is the scsi card is bad. Could be cable, but not sure how that would go bad.

Scanner passes all self checks at start up and reports no error when the message appears.

Thoughts? I wonder if switching scsi I'd from 2 to another I'd would work?

I can get a new card from Aztec, etc.

From the DPL manual it appears that the scsi card becomes available during scan and that it could be the cable. Had the error codes E2200 and E2201. Waiting to hear from Aztec.

It does seem like a SCSI issue. Check that you have a proper terminator on the line. From my memory sometimes things worked better on a SCSI line with a dedicated active terminator rather than relying on self-termination.. but this has been a long time.

Yeah. Scanner is supposed to be self-terminating. Weird thing is, it worked fine previously. Let it sit for several months then this. Gonna start with a new cable, card, etc. scanner passes all self tests and all additional tests from the diagnostic software
