Good choice. Both sides of 'normal' do have slightly different working methods/needs compared to the normal focal length for the 4x5 format...normal, as I see it being around a range of 135mm to 180mm. A lens that throws a larger image circle can be more forgiving when one is experimenting and learning...and it can be helpful (IMO) to first work with a lens in a new format that sees somewhat close to how our eyes see.

Having travelled a somewhat similar path, I would suggest more of a shoot first, ask questions later approach. Jump in with whatever you have and get prints on paper will teach you more than you might think
