I've got a Kirk ball head that I'd like to mount on my Tiltall TE-01. I can't figure out out to remove the factory pan head though. Anybody out there have any suggestions?

Instead of removing it, I think there's a Gitzo rapid column that will fit a Tiltall. On a Tiltall the head is meant to be permanently attached to the column, so if you remove it, it's not like you'll have a 3/8" screw to attach another head.Originally Posted by Theodore Bare
Not sure about the TE-01, but I've got an old Marchioni Tiltall. There's a setscrew on the side of the head at its base. It screws the base to the column. When you remove the setscrew, the head will come right off.
As David said, there's no provision for mounting another head. So I made an aluminum "universal base" to take other heads. I can screw a head onto this base, slip the base over the column, and use a setscrew to secure it like the original head.
Since I went back to the original head, I don't use it anymore. If you want it, you're welcome to it.
