I ordered some repair parts for a Gitzo tripod a couple years ago. I might have ordered from: https://www.gitzospares.com/
    Thank you Jeff
My model seems to be pre 2004.

188 Euros: have to think about it. I paid about 300 including the Gitzo G-1570M head (which I wanted to sell)

It cost much less than Gitzo, it's much lighter, and it's more compact. The quality is terrific.

    Here's the Gitzo part: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...te_Series.html
Personally, I'd look for a less expensive option.

    Maybe this would work? https://leofotousa.com/products/leof...-plate-adapter

Randy, that's not the right plate. That one fits on top of a center column. It won't fit in the main tripod mounting...collar?

And also I will check the Leofoto variant

    Hello Doremus
You are right, the center column is stable. I wanted to save some weight...

might it be easier and cheaper to replace the column with a shortened one and just lock it down as suggested ^^
notch codes ? I only use one film...

Why don't you take out the column assembly and measure the diameter of the insert required. ? 75mm, 100mm or 3 1/2 in.

It should be 100mm, but measure!

    Re: Gitzo 1500 Studex

    Hello

I have now got around to taking the dimensions and weights.

The outer diameter is 100 mm
The inner one is 85 mm.

The center column weighs pretty much 1000 g.
The tripod without center column 4200 g

With the plate instead the column, I then save about 900 g.

When all 3 leg segments are extended I get to a height of 159 cm. (With the center column it would be 200 cm).

On top I will use an Arca Swiss Monoball B2. This will add 14 cm.

The Gitzo G-1570M tripod head weighs 1330 g, the Arca Swiss Monoball B2 1595 g.

I found an interesting website on the subject of the Top Plate. In it the Gitzo plate was examined:

Interesting also the comparison Aliuminium vs Carbon:
    https://thecentercolumn.com/2018/06/.../#comment-1748

And in it, in the comments, the alternative to carbon: carrots! :-)
