Hi from NYC, my first shots!

    Hi!

My name is Sloane, I've been taking film photos since about 2015 when I was in highscool -- I just got my first large format camera (Intrepid 4x5) and took a few shots near the Hudson river.

Clearly I have my work cut out for me, this is so unlike every other camera I've ever used. I thought my hours of research and reading would prepare me but I was still wayy out of my depth.
Even so I am so excited to get out and shoot again!

^ this is the only somewhat okay shot, my tripod sucks and this was a 1" exposure. Still BLOWN AWAY by the level of detail.

    Welcome.
NY here as well. I started in 4x5 about 5 years ago, still learning every day. Fun journey though.

Good start, welcome. At home, put all of your LF gear in the car (or bike or cart or however you transport). Then get it out, set it up, select a subject, go through everything to make a negative except don’t have film in the holder. Then tear it all down and put it back in the car. Do this 50 times and you’ll have the mechanics down. Practice makes permanent.
