I tried this once and in a hurry to grab some fleeting light, I cross theaded the rear element and was not able to get it on or the the other lens either for the remainder of the trip. I do not recommend it.

Have you thought about all the dust getting on the elements while waiting for mounting?
I was doing the same thing using a 240mm sironar-N and 355mm G-Claron in the same Copal #3, but I have replaced the 240mm with a 250mm fuji so I no longer need to carry around "loose elements." It was never a big deal to switch them in and out.
I've got the barrel from my 355 G-Claron for sale over on apug (http://www.apug.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1378&sort=1&cat=500&page=1). This would probably be much cheaper than having Grimes make one for you.
