There are many materials used for intensifying screens including lead.

Yes absolutely. I was just noteing the purpose of the lead in industrial xray film packaging.

Anyone interested in trying industrial xray film should look for Non-interleaved or NIF in the description. Comes with no additional packaging. Avoid words like Pack, Envelope, Ready, Contact, Lead, Pb, Interleaved, or INT in the description. Out of this avoid list the Interleaved has the least additional packaging consisting of a single sheet of paper or a folded paper wrapper between each sheet of film.

I very much like that my (medical) X-ray sheets from Carestream are individually packaged, sheet by sheet in an envelope.

no, the lead is for absorbing stray x-rays instead of letting them potentially reflect off of something nearby and back onto the film. it's not involved at all in converting x-rays into visible light that the film is more sensitive to, or "electrons" as you put it. those are two separate layers.
