I'm updating on the FLM delivery in case others are interested in making an order with @Ari and because of a recent thread which showed a fair amount of frustration with international shipping cost and service. I've never had a problem with Canada Post and USPS.
The FLM package, which shipped from Ottawa last night, is now headed from Montreal to the U.S. Assuming that it goes to New York City by truck rather than by air, the NY State border is less than 50km (30mi) away. As noted above (post #39), Canada Post's estimated delivery has a lengthy cushion for US Customs delay and any USPS delays. I anticipate receiving the package by Monday, if not sooner.
The US Postal Service started tracking the package in Montreal, sooner than I expected:

I'm amazed how fast stuff gets here from Japan. I can usually get a lens from BSKumar in about 4 days once shipped. My Tripod from Ari Ottowa to Georgia took about a week to arrive but came on date expected. I once ordered a used meter from Israel and it took 3 weeks. So if you order internationally, don't wait until just before a trip or planned event where you will need the gear. B&H to anywhere in the US is usually 2-3 days if item is in stock.
Life Tip: How you expend Time , Energy, and Money will directly influence your result. Most endeavors require all three but weighting of each can vary or be altered.
The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Every tag sale and thrift store seems to have ankle weights for a quarter to a few dollars. Depending on weight required, might be an inexpensive solution
Thanks, the idea of using ankle or wrist weights hadn't occurred to me. In addition to being less expensive than what grip companies like Matthews sell, the weight of some ankle and wrist weight products is adjustable. An interesting option.
As posts #26 and #31 show, there's no need for a counterbalance weight for a 35mm or medium format camera, but I anticipate that there will be for my 4x5. I plan to test the Gitzo lateral arm rig with the 4x5 this weekend. As discussed in post #31, I also want to see how much additional extension I can get with my 35mm camera if I ditch the tripod head, which I don't believe I need.

This is the main 4x5 setup that I plan to test this weekend. I'll be using a Gitzo Series 3 tripod. I'll test without, and if necessary with, a Manfrotto 410 Gearerd Pan and Tilt Head, which weighs 1.2kg (2.7lb). I have a levelling base for the tripod, which I'm thinking may work well and save me the load of the Manfrotto head at the camera. I also have a machinist's level, which is accurate and fairly compact:
Toyo film holder
Arca-Swiss F-Line with 171mm˛ lens boards
Nikon Nikkor AM ED 120mm f/5.6 macro lens
The tricky part may be bellows extension, which will progressively lower the centre of gravity as I get closer to 1:1 (240mm of bellows).
In reserve, I have three wide angle Rodenstock lenses, 55mm, 75mm and 90mm. I've never tried using these as close-up lenses, but at the moment I just want to compare balancing at least one of them with balancing the Nikon 120mm. They're heavier than the Nikon, but will require less bellows.
Lens weight:
Nikon 120mm (AM ED macro): 295g
Rodenstock 55mm (APO-Grandagon): 400g
Rodenstock 75mm (Grandagon N): 440g
Rodenstock 90mm (Grandagon N): 460g
I'll use a leather bag bellows with any of the Rodenstock lenses I try, and I could use the 55mm lens with the camera's 15cm rail instead of the heavier 30cm rail.

In addition to testing the Gitzo centre column/lateral arm with my Arca-Swiss 4x5 this weekend, I'll also be able to test my digital Leica without the weight of the Manfrotto 410 Geared Head. This morning, the FLM QR clamp and camera plate that @Ari shipped from Canada four days ago (post #44) is ...
Out for Delivery
As mentioned just above, I plan to use a Gitzo levelling base and 75mm bowl with my Gitzo Series 3 tripod and 4x5. This should make the Manfrotto Geared Head unnecessary. The same levelling base and bowl fit the RRS ground tripod that I'm using with the digital Leica. Post #1, photo #1 in this thread shows the ground tripod with the bowl in use instead of the tripod's flat plate. I just have to change out the Miller fluid head in the photo for the Gitzo levelling base.
This demonstrates why, when I buy a tripod, I want one that conforms to Gitzo's Systematic System specs, which RRS tripods and several other makes do. I want tripod accessories to be interchangeable. Sometimes accessories by other makers are also less expensive than Gitzo's. A Benro bowl conforms to Gitzo specs, but is cheaper than a Gitzo bowl.

The is the levelling base that I'm talking about. It should make the Manfrotto 410 Geared Pan and Tilt Head unnecessary, saving 1.2kg (2.7lb) of load at the camera for both 35mm and 4x5. The levelling base has about 15° of tilt. I don't think that it's a big deal to level from tripod legs, especially with a ground tripod, but a levelling base can save a bit of time.
