    Rodenstock 150mm Copal 0 Mounting

    Greetings all,

New member here; and first posting. This will probably come across as eye-rolling dumb; but I must ask as I am new to the lens and board combination. I have a Rodenstock 150mm with a Copal 0 shutter and bore. I am attempting to mount it on a Sinar lens board. However, the lens ring appears too small for the board as it will actually fall through if I try to tighten it. That’s the first issue. The second issue is when I get the lens tight enough to barely hold it onto the board, the aperture adjustment won’t move. Am I missing a part(s) here? I’m thinking the board was machined for a lens other than Copal 0; but I’m concerned about the aperture adjustment.

Please help me out as I am off to a fairly rough start here. Any suggestions are not only welcome but desperately needed!

    Jeff

Sounds like you got it right.

A #0 shutter needs to be put on a board with a #0 hole. A #1 shutter needs to be put on a board with a #1 hole. A #3 shutter needs to be put on a board with a #3 hole.

You can't fit a square peg in a round hole!

To supplement that wisdom….here are the measurements for those hole sizes. When properly mounted on/in the correct board/hole the binding on aperture will resolve itself.

look at "A (hole dia.)" on this page:

    https://skgrimes.com/products/lens-board-mountings/

It shows the size of the hole for the common compur/copal shutter sizes.

Measure/check the hole size on the Sinar lens board to verify it is to fit a# 0 size shutter. Due to the HUGE variety of lenses that can be installed on a Sinar lens board, it might appear to be a# 0 shutter hole, but not so.

All, we were correct. Someone had machined a bit of material from the #0 hole in the lens board . I ordered a new (used) one; installed the lens; and all is OK.
Thank you all for your help!
