    lens haze filter

If a lens has a slight haze between cells that seems to have minimal effect except for reduced contrast, would a filter help boost the contrast or lens performance? Thinking maybe add a polarizer or light yellow filter. Its a big lens so would have to add to use rear threads.

Lens: SA 300/500 Convertible, Haze mostly in rear cells when you shine a flashlight through it.
The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

No, a pro cleaning would be the best solution. Putting a filter behind the lens is never a cure and especially not a polarizer.
