I use sparsely used streets as much as possible. Hills around here would make it very difficult for me to ride my 30+ year old Cannondale. Trails are tricky, people walking listening to music, I jingle my little bell, try not to startle. Ebikes are great, you can slow down, no worries about getting back up to speed.
I ride to get groceries. Want to save gasoline, use an Ebike for short trips. Eliminating cold starts etc, fuel economy is dramatically improved.
There is one lake in Iowa, Lake McBride, that bans boat motors over 9.9 hp, everywhere else a no wake ordinance does the job. Lake McBride thus eliminates most boats, leaving the place free for the wealthy fatcats that have homes on the lake. The pontoon boats, at the private docks usually have a souped up motor under a 9.9hp cowling.
The park rangers do a good job keeping things under control, they check everyone eventually. And it's no wake on the entire lake.
