Horseman 45FA wide and zoom. Suggestions please

    Hello all

My 45FA arrived and I am super happy with it so far. Haven't taken any images but just been playing with the levers etc and getting used to doing things in a certain way.

I have a 135 and a 150 but I know I will want to get a wider and longer lens.

What would be a decent not breaking the bank set of lenses?

I have seen some topcor 75's and 210's

anyone have experience with the 45FA and these lens combos??

    Thank you!

The widest Topcor they made for the FA was the 90mm. That is a very nice lens, perhaps my favorite for the camera. My 150mm Topcor would be second in line.

I have been eyeing up the 90mm. Prices are very reasonable. What about a longer range than the 150? I have the 150 Topcor.

    Thank you

Either a 210mm or a 240mm should work fine. I have a 210mm Topcor which is a great lens with a huge image circle. But after working with a 90 - 150 - 210 set for a few years, i found the set unbalanced. I had the feel that the 210mm was to close to the 150mm for my likings and the differences in angle of view betwen the 90mm and the 150mm to big. So i got a 240mm next to it - an apo-ronar in my case to avoid carrying a big and heavy 240mm plasmat when doing landscapes. I kept the 210mm for portraits.

Be aware that you don't need to stick with Topcor lenses for your Horseman - almost any modern lens from Scheider, Nikon, Fuji or Rodenstock will do it's job perfectly as long as the shutter functions and the lens isn't damaged from abuse.

Thank you all for the information and suggestions.

Unfortunately the camera is faulty. Rails seem miss aligned so standard will not always travel back in the shell.

So disappointed. My first lf and was such an anti climax.

    Oh well

Part of me feels a better built camera will be better but who knows how they have been treated.

I have the 210mm Topcor and the 180mm Topcor and the 300mm converter for the 150. All are just as nice as any German lens I have ever used.

This is an example taken with the Topcor 210mm.

The 90mm Topcor is the same as the 90mm Caltar, except the rear barrel of the Caltar won't allow the lens fit through the opening in the front of the FA.
