What's a good source for an 8x10 ground glass. (It's for an 8x10 Burke and James.) Thx.

I've posted about this before. There are other threads on this forum but I'll post again. I used the method described by Dick Dokas, here: http://www.dokasphotos.com/techniques/ground_glass/ I've ground several pieces for cameras from 4x5 to 14x17. Other than a sore arm, I really like what I get. You'll be happier if you take the camera back into a glass shop to get the piece of glass fitted to your camera.
Very good advice and link Matt
I have made a few with that exact technique
I prefer cut corners on some cameras, I cut the corners first, then grind, just in case
The speed of breaking glass is amazing
I have a B&J 8x10 Rembrandt incoming, most likely the GG is exactly 8X10 just like my B&J 5X7 is exact
If so, I will test grind this glass which I buy in frames by the dozen, Walmart, Amazon, Dick Blick sell it cheap and they are exact sizes with very smooth edges
I only wonder if it is tempered or cracks oddly
I will know soon

I bought 5x7" from France, so a local guy should be available
It could have been this guy. Buy more than one

My new ground glass really made a difference
What i want to know is why I have a couple 50's Linhof OE GG that are very coarsely ground? German perfection? Function over Form?
and why a 8X10 Kodak Master View has extremely good OE GG 'coating' with no grinding, looks sprayed on!
The KMV has Aerial viewing areas/stripes, which are also useful

Could it be Linhof sold the good stuff for premium price? Maybe Bob has something to say on this matter....
The Kodak could be acid etched? I followed ebay auction of Andrew Glover (Dagor77?) he sold some of those in 11x14" size. His auction descriptions where worth a read, selling Apo-Nikkor sharper than legal

Thanks for the link! Since Young Camera Company is no longer making ground glasses, I just bought one from that guy in France. Recently dropped my C1 and while the camera was fine, the gg was not. Figured I'd try this one out. I'll report back.
The Reverend Steven Shuart sold large format stuff on Shutterbug for decades. Now he sells on Ebay.
He has been cutting Plaubel Makina ground glass for me, not too bad price and he knows how to precision cut.
Give him the size and he will do a good job cutting it for you
28 Bucks for 4x5
