Whew...that was scary!
You can look into using LetsEncrypt, it's free SSL certificate and you can setup a process where it's automatically renewed. Making it completely hands-off process
Also, since this site by and large doesn't handle "confidential" data, it might be worth modifying the HSTS policy to be a little less draconian.
I understand the "strict enforcement of SSL", but it burns me a bit that a perfectly valid SSL chain that's been expired for less than 24 hours, can't be overridden by the user-- unless you know the "thisisunsafe" trick, which again, because of the strict settings on HSTS, has to be re-entered for nearly every page.
It's also possible that outside of LF_Alex and myself, no one understands a single bloody thing I said.
Yay team!
Very glad LFPF is back up!

...oops, sorry. 2020 got the better of me for a moment there.

It should be noted that the "strict enforcement of SSL" is done by the Firefox browser, and, perhaps, others, not the LFPF
Once again, thank you to the people who do the hard work of keeping the forum running.
And one of the things I like about LF is that nothing is ever urgent.
