John, Hernandez is a very different place than in AA's day. I've been there and the foreground has changed. Check this story on re-visiting Hernandez https://www.kevinshick.com/blog/2017...g-hernandez-nm

Spent four years in graduate school in Las Cruces and a winter and fall in Ruidoso - my mother-in-law still lives there. There is something about the state...
Spot on mentions of Kirk Gittings, Craig Varjabedian, Doremus Scudder, William Clift. I once shared a cup of coffee with Kirk and I'm proud to say I'm an owner of one of his prints, and I have two personal note cards from William Clift to ME! I hope to be passing through Santa Fe some day that his gallery is open - I DID see his exhibit at the New Mexico Museum of art, and own Mont St. Michel/Shiprock the book. It is a favorite.
I found a pleasant surprise about a year ago, a book called "The Black Place Two Seasons" of both color and B&W photos by Walter W. Nelson. The B&W images were done with an 8x10, I believe. If you like stark, minimal landscapes you would enjoy it.
Bring a mask and wear it.
