Kodak Master View (KMV) Replacement GG

Regarding the KMV and it’s GG, has anyone replaced their GG and if so... does it require any shimming or is it a drop-n-go process?

If it isn't shimmed already, then no.
    Two things, separate but related:

    1. The aluminum on the back is quite soft, any action such as removal of the GG, will probably require a slight re-calibration.
    2. As I remember it, on my camera, the back needed to be shimmed for more precise film plane alignment. Focus was slightly behind the GG, which probably was particular to my camera, not the Master series.

Also, I found out that the aluminum back was warped, which caused a light leak in one of the bottom corners. This happened due to the repeated opening of the back to insert a film holder; the metal was soft enough to be affected by it.
    Proceed with caution.
