    Don,

If that were 1966 and just west of Cleveland, TN, that could be me on that table.

It's not me. But I fondly remember my Grandfather and Uncle at the store and ESSO station on US Highway 64.

    Oh bummer.
My friend lives near Nashville and when she moved she told me to pronounce it like this: "TEN SEE" like 2 words. I can't wait to visit my old friend and hear people say that. She sends me kayaking photos. Looks like a lovely state.

Shot in the mid 70's near my home. It's still standing but has been closed for decades. Fortunately the owner has kept it up and it's still in nice shape.

Shot on my 8x10 Deardorff, I believe TX film, and 6.5" Goerz Wide Angle Dagor. The exposure was probably 10 seconds and the people were moving a little but that's the way it goes when attempting this kind of shot. There was barely enough light to focus.
    Fabulous

It could almost be a Walker Evans

That’s a very high complement for me. I think Evans, Lewis Hine and Dorothea Lange are my favorites. The FSA photographers are all very high on my list of greats.

JMDavis, you never know you may be in my archive somewhere.

Thanks all! There’ll be more coming.

You just never know who you’ll run into. Several years ago I was doing a commercial shoot in NE Tn with professional models. I got to talking with one of the male models and found out his dad and my dad were from the same tiny town in Southern IL and used to play together in the 1930’s. They both lived in the same little town, whats the chance. Not only did they play together but they were cousins which made Russ, the model and myself distant cousins. Not only were we cousins on our dads side but we found out we’re cousins in our mothers side too. Amazing!!!

I asked Russ what being cousins on both sides makes us and with a straight face he hesitated and then said “Appalachian”.
