Any users of the 10 x 12 format?
Any users of the 10 x 12 format?
Yes, I have a lighweight 10x12 Vageeswari, I dont use it that much these days. I made my own shutter out of half a speed graphic and would use my old barrel lenses with it. I only ever used xray film though.
Dave my old friend!
I use a 10 x 12 Canham for a large portion of my Wet Plate work. Love the format. To me it is the sweet spot to holding a plate in your hands and hanging it on the wall. I also use it for pt/Pd work
Hope you are well

I reckon 10x12" is a great format. The only reservation I have about it is getting film, as Ilford or Kodak (as far as I'm aware) don't seem to do this size even on custom orders anymore? Adox do though, so that's an option?
I also shoot 10x12. Made my own camera and holders and I shoot x-ray with it. Love the format.
10x12 here as well. It's a great format. Started with a 10x12 Deardorff, but now have a 10x12 Chamonix and a Sanderson A Pattern. It's a standard size for the Ilford ULF program and I'm sure Adox would cut it for you.
I know this as old plate size, but what are you all doing for gear today? I see some making cameras. Are the others mentioned mostly modified up from 8x10 or down from 11x14, or originally made for the format. And holders?
I would probably have shrugged this off a few months ago, but have been doing whole plate, 8x10, and 11x14 portraits lately and am becoming more sensitive to the interaction with print size in hand. Much as I love the 11x14, the print size seems just a bit big for viewing prints in hand.
I'll be anxious to see what turns up in this thread, but almost wish I could unread the idea. Like I really need another format. Still I hope we'll see some pictures with or of 10x12 :-)
Holders are the real challenge. My 10x12 Deardorff came with Hoffmann holders, so I just standardized on those. I have one S&S and one AWB 10x12 holder, both modified to meet the specs of the Hoffmann holders. I sent one to Chamonix when I ordered the camera. 10x12 stuff occasionally turns up on ebay. Probably more late 19th century / early 20th century plate cameras and book form holders than 10x12 film equipment. But it's out there. Still, the 10x12 Sanderson A Pattern (circa 1904) is the most interesting camera I've owned (and there have been a lot.) But I've never been able to find the proper book form holders for it.
Film is not a problem, if you plan ahead a bit.
Most lenses that cover 8x10 will do the job on 10x12 as well.
My current bigger than 8x10 lens kit for 10x12 (which I use for 7x17/8x20/12x20 as well)
