    I have one of those lenses. You can really use it without the front element?

    Yes you sure can. It was designed to do that. Do you have the secondary green marking on the face of the shutter? Don't underestimate this lens it is a beauty. Actually one of the first lenses to be designed with a computer.

    Mine may not work then. It is a Caltar II S, no markings for a convertible. Ah well, brief hope anyway.
