    July 2017 portrait thread

Naomi at Alford Lake, Hope Maine. July 2017. 4x5 speed graphic preanniversary with 9" Gundlach Hyperion soft focus lens. Tmy2 tmax 400 film in pyrocat hdc.

The light was nice. She was relaxed taking a break from swimming. I asked her to keep seated where she was (atop the picnic table) and I setup and shot two sheets.

Apparently people have been doing this all over, for a while. See https://www.google.com/search?q=twee...utf-8&oe=utf-8.

They dress up in vintage clothing (hence the name "Tweed") and ride vintage bicycles.

For ex-racing types, the most famous ride of this variety is L'Eroica in Italy, restricted to road racing bikes from 1987 and earlier, and of course the participants do their best to dress appropriately for the vintage of their bicycles. While clearly not Large Format, here is a link to their photo galleries: https://www.eroicagaiole.com/photo-gallery

    Astonishing portrait, congratulations Robert !

May I show some of my recent works ?

This young Fellow, Adrien, is a swiss friend nice enough to cross the border and to allow me to post his portraits here. I do thank him from the bottom of my heart for beeing a good friend and to care enough to undergo the torture of large format portraiture for my photographic sake.

Yeps, I'm trying to tame my new Norma 5X7 but I do meet some problems to compose with this format and to make some good scans with my Epson flat bed scanner.

On the other hand, I desperately need some feedbacks and advices from you nice viewers, so here we go !

    Norma 5x7
    Delta 100
Apo Ronar 360mm opened at F9-11
Large format photography is not only about size.
