How do you remove sheet film from a JOBO without

damaging the emulsion? I sometimes have trouble getting hold of the corners of my 8x10 sheet film to lift it out. I have scratched several sheets in one of the upper corners with the opposing edge of the film. Does anyone have a good routine they use? Tweezers? Many thanks!

    Ed,
I use forceps. They grip very securely and I can easily hold just the very corner of the negative.

Lee's trick has worked for me for a long time...let the water do the work.

I fill the tank with water, and with gloved hands (cheap surgical gloves), I roll the top part of the film away from the tube edge, and slide it up. Never scratched one out of 1200+ sheets.

OK, thanks guys! I have a dry darkroom (no running water) and can't fill the tank so I bought some forceps yesterday. The Efke 100 film I use seems to have a fragile emulsion. Ed

"The Efke 100 film I use seems to have a fragile emulsion."

And that is probably the understatement of the week.

Efke films are widely known for having very, very soft emulsion.
If a contact print at arm's length is too small to see, you need a bigger camera. :D

Ed with Efke sheet films you should use a hardening fixer and if possible fill the expert drum with water.
