An old photo someone took of me on the summit of Mt. Whitney in California:
The placard was being passed around by others on the summit that day.

It is sort of like taking a hike while sitting down. Bought a used kayak (Perception Expression) on Thursday and took a short spin in it on Stone Lagoon today, just up the road from home (40 minutes ). Light fog lifting as we got on the water.

Vaughn this is wonderful! I've been a paddler all my life...and when on the water I live for mornings like this!
Wow Vaughn, looks like a beautiful morning for a paddle.

Muir Pass - Images taken with a K1000 on a Sierra hike a few years back (20+).
Getting near the pass from the north.
The pass is now in view - its the U shaped ridge in the center. The hut is visible but you need binoculars to make it out. Wanda Lake is in the center.

That little guy in the lower right has quite a racket: When he sees you approaching he hides out of sight under the hut. Everyone wants to see the inside of the hut so they drop their backpacks and go inside. Once everyone is inside he comes out and rifles though the packs.
Hiking season is coming early this year!

It was early 70s since I've been over Muir Pass. Thanks for the reminder.

On the John Muir Trail
Another K1000 shot from a trip. A close inspection of the foreground shows the trail running to the right along the lake. I probably camped for the night at this lake as the sun appears to be setting in the west.

I didn't know it was there until I happened upon it on a trip to the palisades.
