Linhof Technika V 5x7 Wide Angle Focus Question

Any 5x7 Technika V owners here who could help?

I've got one in my hands now but the internal focus track doesn't seem to work

The left side control knob is unlocked but I can't turn it more than 1/5 of a turn and it doesn't seem to have any effect on the inner rail.

I don't want to force anything

Is there some way it's supposed to be set up so this works?

I can move the internal track pretty easily back and forth with my fingers if I just push or pull on the left side track only. Pushing both sides it doesn't move at all. When it moves it just slides, I don't get the feeling it's turning any gear anywhere.

Ideas?

Ask Bob, Rim was never trained on that camera.

Btw Nippon still says on its website it's an authorized Linhof service center (as well as Contax and Wista)

I've used Precision for over 15 years for my Arca stuff, they're amazing

But I've used Nippon for over 20 years for everything else. And they're only a 15 minutes from me.
