Looking at a 14" dagor F7.7 with a serial number 397XXX.
This chart (http://motamedi.info/serial.htm) does not contain numbers in this range.
Can someone point me in the direction of a list that might? Or perhaps share insight on this?

If Goerz American, made between 1918 and 1927.
If Goerz Berlin, per P-H Pont made between 1915 and 1920.
Why do so many list a lens or any serial # as 123XXX?
Is this an attempt to conceal provenance?
I see this often and wonder...

inches instead of millimeters? On the older ones, if it says serie III nstead of Series III, its european.
'14" focus' is the tip-off. US-made.
