    Seeking info on these 1939 Eastman Kodak, Wratten & Wainwright Tricolor Dry Plates

    From what I can tell from my searching they would normally be used for color separations by printers, but I do remember that some early color images were made in a similar way. Can anyone add some definitive information?

    I think the only reason they are marked TRICOLOR is to indicate they fit a tri-color camera. That is a camera that has one lens and three film holders, each with a red, green or blue filter in front of the holder. Google tri-color camera. Here is one particularly good image.

    That makes a lot of sense. I was looking for references to tricolor plates, but aside from the backing, they are probably just plates. I'm still interested to know more about this system.

    Oh, and there is currently a Tri-Color camera for sale on eBay.
