Tri gum over palladium! Read that again; who's doing that? Yep,
that's tri and who.
I did attend this workshop as a NELFPC member. Best is the short of
it.
But I chose not to produce a print (another story), but alternatively
hung as an observer to see the process in action and be in the
company of that passion which is always the case in the NELF group.
And wow what an observation and weekend it was.
No compare.
First let me say that the people that joined NELF members for the
weekend workshop were absolutely great; interest, integrity and
respect and a willingness to learn as part of a rather large group. So
happy to meet Dave, Donald, Liz and Peter and see their passions and
committments and also Monty who has joined us before but who I
just met this weekend...
Ah, but the workshop itself....
And that brings me first to Mr Bob Carnie, whose name many of you
know already (or you should), Why, you may ask? I'll tell you -or try.
First it's because Bob is one of those upstanding and giving people
that the photo community wants and needs. He is extremely
passionate about what he does. He is a master printer. He has the
knowledge AND is willing to share it. Bob understands that
knowledge is a base of human development and photo development
(no pun) and should be open to all for actualization and inspiration.
For Bob this is not a competition but a dissemination for all to benefit
from, including those who get to see some awesome work (viewers) ,
and be inspired and moved. And as an aside, there's probably no one
or certainly not many that have this experience and knowledge.
I was quite happy to be in his presence and expertise.
And we are talking here about a world class printer and his
experience and life. Can I say more?
Oh yes, I certainly can.
Paulette. She is Bob's 'apprentice'. Well Bob is extremely lucky to
have this woman working for him. I know that he is passing his
knowledge to another and that's freaking fantastic. And after
meeting Paulettte I can see that this is the right decision for Bob and
for the photo community. She has the passion that Bob does and was
totally freaking awesome; understanding, totally knowledgable and
worked her butt off because of those qualities and the needs of the
class. In short, this weekend would not have happened without her.
And did I mention she's a sweetheart?
Well my observations of the weekend would not be nearly complete
without the mention of 'the man', and that would be Steve Sherman.
You know him from this forum I hope but I need to say more. Steve
would give you the shirt off his back. World class man and
consummate craftsman and photographer.
And he opens his house to these weekends with his wife Vicki and it's
an awesome welcome and great experience. And he has a world class
darkroom.....lol, oh ya. Did I say world class hospitality?
And I have to mention All the NELF wives.....they sustain us. And it's
awesome and appreciated. Probably more than we can say.
Workshop, Bob or Steve? Do it!
thanks my friends
ps. lol nothing about the process here , sorry for all those who missed
it.
pps. and oh yes there was dumante.......
