What would happen if I left test strips in the fixer.....

What would happen if I left test strips in the fixer for long periods of time? Would the silver come off the paper and just go into the fixer? I'm only asking because if something like that were to happen then I would start throwing all my test strips and bad prints into my exhausted fixer so that when it comes time to using the Silver Magnet Silver Recovery Device I could get the most out of it.

An acidic fixer will eventually bleach developed silver. The lower the pH, the stronger the bleaching action.
