    DIY monorail weight

    Hello
Many people said that monorails are bulkier and heavier than field cameras. However I think that its true, because most monorails are made from metal, not wood.
Homemake wooden monorails are lighter then homemade fields? Monorail seems to be easier to made. How much weigh your DIY monorails (especially 5x7 and 8x10)?
    Thanks.

there's a reason why monorails aren't typically made of wood. STABILITY

    Re: DIY monorail weight

    That's a remarkably unhelpful answer.

The Bender 8x10 is a wooden kit with a square aluminium tube for a rail. It is similar in construction to an entirely homemade monorail, so I assume the weight will be similar. The Bender weighs 5.5 pounds (2.5kg). Here is the URL for the Bender (it looks like it is still for sale, but it is not. the owner closed the company). http://www.jaybender.com/BPH/8x10.htm
