    I'd worry about vibration/shaking with these designs.

    Lachlan, I worry about it too. If someone has access to a high speed video camera, it would be very interesting to see if there is any deflection in the camera caused by acceleration as the slide is triggered. There will certainly be vibration when the slide stops, but by then the lens will be closed.

    I used to try to make these, but I never found a really good material locally available.
