An image of a condenser set, assembled and sitting by itself, does seem to be rare, but maybe a quick explanation is worth a single image:
Basically, there are four parts:
--Cylindrical housing
--Corrugated spacer
--2 condenser lenses – each is flat on one side, convex on the other
The corrugated spacer is placed inside the housing, fitting snugly around its inner wall.
The two lenses are placed inside the housing, so the two convex surfaces face each other in the middle, and the two flat surfaces are on the very bottom, and the very top.
The spacer is what keeps the convex surfaces from touching.
Hope this is visual enough and helps!
