    storage

I'm always in need of more of that for the stuff that goes along with photography.. I needed a place to store inkjet paper, alt process paper, print bags, xray film envelopes, etc. There is no good system I have seen yet that is affordable for storing these sort of items and DIY seems the way to go.

I had in my garage a very nice wooden shipping box that I'd received a used Cisco 7507 in about 10-12 years ago. It has also seen use as a lemonade stand and as a storage/work bench in my garage. Now it was time to clean my garage a bit and put this into good use. I painted it and made some shelves for it with plywood and put it in my attic (which is dry and well lit and without temperature extremes) I can now hold many rolls of paper, boxes of paper, and stacks of sleeves!

I'd be mindful of flat spots on your roll paper, laying on its side like that. Storing it vertically might be better?

    Re: storage

    I Agree with Daniel,
Recommended storage for any rolled paper is vertical. Also wood and paint fumes can pose a problem for unexposed and exposed photographic emulsions.

Inkjet paper rolls are usually supplied in boxes. Plastic end pieces are inserted into both of the cardboard core ends and and they keep the roll from touching the sides of the cardboard box [if stored horizontal]

The rolls are also best kept in there plastic bags...These may not be airtight but it will go a long way to keep pollutants away from emulsions / inkjet receptor coatings.

    Re: storage

I haven't the means to make pottery to store scrolls vertically like the dead sea scrolls, and most of the cardboard boxes they came in are gone, so this will do until they are used up. Appreciate the suggestion though; same deal as tire storage among car folks. I definitely keep the rolls in their plastic bags. I keep negatives clean and keeping paper clean is nearly as important.

Next storage task is something for picture frames and framing supplies.

One inexpensive way to help the rolls from getting flatspots is to place them on large (1inch) bubble wrap.
