    Softening up curtain shutter cloth

What would be the best stuff for softening up old curtain shutter cloths?

While googling, i found one recommendation some cleaning product called "lemon pledge".

I don't think anything, short of replacement by new rubberised/treated cloth, will work.

You risk sticky surfaces and increased friction.
